Sweet Sadie came from Alabama, and was part of a large group of dumped dogs maybe 60 or so, called the River Rascals. They were dogs of all types dumped by a river and good samaritans were feeding, but not vetting them due to costs. There were puppies everywhere. Sadie has had several litters. One by one these dogs were brought in to a shelter, examined, spayed or neuterd and gotten to rescues. Over 50 per cent are heart worm positive. Sadie is one of those. She is said to be around 7 yrs old, and is just the sweetest girl. You can hear her tail thumping for joy a mile away! She is good with other dogs, really doesnt play with them, but once in a while gets a wild streak and zooms around the yard. She plays ball occasionally. Loves to be near people. Has no bad habits, rarely barks. Likes small dark corners to sleep in and has no aversion to a crate. She is around 50 pounds..and is scheduled for heartworm treatment in February and March. We would love to find someone in the Sarasota/Bradenton area who could foster her during treatment. She is really no trouble at all, she is a bit intimidated by the amount of dogs here but is really being a good camper about it. Loves to have her belly rubbed and the couch is the place to go.Walks well on lead, and gets excited when you bring it out. Okay in the car, not noise sensitive. Unsure about cats, but she is so mellow, I cannot imagine her getting worked up over one. A really laid back girl, looking for her forever home. She would be a very easy foster.
