HI my name is Elliot!  I have been through a lot in his short life I've seen hard times and looks forward to the good times.  I really like being at my foster home but I would love to meet my forever family.  I was at a rescue that had way too many dogs, and I was not cared for very well. I spent long hours in my crate, and no one paid any attention to me. I did not get any play time, and I did not get good medical care. I ended up in animal control and these nice people were searching for me and finally found me!! Now here I am waiting for you to take me home and love me! Im not perfect yet but I try and I LOVE people!
Elliot is your typical 3-4 yr old blue heeler.  He is a very smart boy, and He will do whatever it takes to protect his people. That means he is very loyal.  He loves playing and being active but he enjoys relaxing with his people as well.  Elliot knows basic commands, finds great comfort in his crate, and walks great on the lead.  A very sweet boy if I must say so myself, and he is happy to please.  A simple pleasure for Elliot is ice cubes and carrots. He also is a Yoga dog, and loves to stretch! He is healthy and happy , neutered, shots are current and he is heartworm free.
Elliot is dog selective, he picks and chooses his friends. He tends to like little dogs, and submissive ones. We do think this is directly related to his past at the hoarding rescue. He does fine on lead, and walks like a dream, but he is NOT a dog park dog. He has great attention on his people and is food motivated. He would make a great companion dog for non competitive jogging, hiking and biking.. He is calm with other dogs when they keep their distance, but within a few feet, he gets grumpy and lunges and growls. We have a trainer that will work with us and his people on this, it is fixable to a degree. Elliot is a good dog despite that, and not all dogs get along with others. He also has a condition called Horners syndrome and I am posting a link here. It does not deter him in the least, there are no issues, he has drops for his eyes and that is about it. We do suspect it is from trauma due to his past, he may have been in dog fights who knows???  Her is a link to info about it, reiterated it does not stop him from being a loving loyal heeler. http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+2092&aid=2478.  Elliot is located in Sarasota with a wonderful foster who has nurtured him thru his release from animal control and beyond. Someone will get a very wonderful dog and Elliot would be overjoyed to have his forever home!!
