Everyone meet Gizmo (or Barney, or Patches; We really need to take a vote on his name, lol)! He's an australian cattle dog/shiba inu/german shepherd mix (but who really knows) of approximately a year of age. We just started fostering Gizmo here in Tampa three days ago and what a wonderful dog he is! He has an absolutely wonderful temperament does really well with people (even strangers!) and loves other dogs. We're still working on potty training but we had a big break through today. Gizmo FINALLY went number two on the leash (granted, it was a 15 ft leash, but progress is progress and we'll take what we can get.:] he'll be poopin' outside like a champ in no time) Gizmo hasn't chewed on anything that he wasn't supposed to since he's been with us and LOVES pork femur bones and stuffed squeaky toys. He's a playful guy and would excel in training due to his desire to please his people. We're currently working on general manners like waiting patiently for his food and waiting at doorways and he's a quick learner! I had him sitting patiently in front of his food bowl waiting for the release word this morning like a little gentleman. He slipped out of the house this afternoon and took off expecting for me to chase him, but when I went back inside to get some treats I was surprised to find that he was already following me back inside. With a persistent handler this guy is going to be one in a million.

Good afternoon everyone! I'm here with an update on Gizmo today! He's a german shepherd australian cattle dog mix of approximately one year of age and boy does he have personality! Last time I posted on here Gizmo was still learning to do's and don'ts of home life. Gizmo graduated from our 15 ft leash last week and has been going potty outside (number one AND number two) within five minutes of being outside on our standard 6 ft leash. I'm very impressed with him! :] Gizmo's fun loving energy is absolutely contagious! I had to choose this picture of Gizmo because although it doesn't necessarily do him justice, it displays his personality perfectly! He's a curious little guy who just wants to investigate everything! He's done wonderfully acclimating to the house rules but still uses his mouth to figure out what things like crayons and colored pencils are. This only happened a couple of times and puppy proofing nipped that behavior in the but right
away! (It's still our job to reduce their opportunities to fail) Since Gizmo's been doing so well with his potty training he's been getting more freedom to roam around the house and I'm happy to say that he hasn't been abusing that privilege! We've had only one accident in the past two weeks (a big deal for a dog who's never been potty trained before!) Gizmo still has to learn to come tell his human when he has to go outside, but that will come in time. With potty training well under way Gizmo and I are finally starting in on a little more of his obedience training. :] More details on that as it comes! More about Gizmo's personality: Goofy, outgoing, cuddle-bug, playful, VERY quick learner, persistent, highly food driven, (By the way, that's a good thing! Makes training that much easier ;] ) Gizmo will do best in home that will be able to stimulate him mentally. That means lot's of exercise, socialization, interacton and play. A family with young children or other dogs to keep him busy would be wonderful! At least one persistent handler and/or obedience training would help to make Gizmo's transition into your home a smooth one. For any additional questions about Gizmo's temperament and/or progress feel free to shoot me a message! If Gizmo's fun spirit and playful energy sounds like the ideal fit for your home, please go tohttp://ewenityfarmsbch.com/ to fill out an adoption application! Thanks for reading everyone! Let's get this cutie pie a forever home!
