Finn is going to be our Thanksgiving project . We are asking for donations for his heartworm treatment and vet care. We will also be looking into a Florida foster and adopter before or after his treatment is done. Altho Finn is in SC, his good sam is a former adopter and foster for Ewenity Farm, who has reached out to us for help .. Rescues up there are full, as are most here. Cathy Lees in SC, has kindly offered to take him in, and keep him safe while Ewenity pays for and monitors his heartworm treatment.. Ultimate goal--a furever home please!!!
Here is Finns story:
ABANDONED TWICE!
Finn is a 6-year old, lab mix, solid black, weighing 65 lbs. Currently located in upstate South Carolina. He is heart worm positive.
As a stray, Finn wandered into the construction site, of a gutted house, being renovated, and became friendly with the home's owner. The homeowner, fed, and allowed to dog to stay in the gutted house, stating he was going to keep him, since no owner was found, even with multiple social media posts. After about 6 weeks, the homeowner needed to return to his residence in Virginia, and decided, he really did not want Finn anymore, since the dog was coughing, and needed a vet visit.
He kicked the dog out, and drove off in the sunset, leaving the dog to face freezing temperatures of the low 30 degree range, without any food, or shelter.
This is when we, and Ewenity Farms, became involved in Finn's life, but we need help!
Finn has been to the vet, has had his shots, and is currently on antibiotics, and has heart worm prevention medication. He will be neutered around Thanksgiving. However, we cant afford the entire bill alone. We currently have 3 dogs of our own, and are already spending a lot at the veterinarians office just on regular maintenance, not to mention the occasion illnesses and surgeries dogs may require throughout life.
We are currently fostering Finn in our home. So no more freezing nights alone.
Finn is the perfect house guest. He's low key, and has no aggression at all, over anything, including food. It's clear to see, he was once someone's dog, as his manners are perfect in every way. His disposition is MELLOW, even when playing. He has started singing for his supper, and breaks out in a doggy opera aria, when preparing his bowl, but other then that, he's quite. He'd do well in an apartment, with a small yard, as his energy level is mellow too.
He's good with other dogs, and all people. However, he chases cats, and chickens. Part of his retriever instinct I'm sure, so I recommend a house without those temptations.
Otherwise, Finn is loving and appreciative, and worth saving. Please help us!
Right now we are focusing on Finns neuter. He is on pre heartworm treatment and will be neutered around Thanksgiving time.. His heartworm treatment should begin around January 2023.. If there is anyone in FLorida that would like to foster this boy, we can move him here and do his actual hw treatment here. We are asking for donations to help offset his costs.. His heartworm treatment is estimated at approx $800 wether done here or there. I have personally offered to pay for his neuter as a donation. Sadly costs have gone up on hw treatments also . We are starting a Finn bank for him. Donations are much appreciated, applications can be found at ewenityfarmsbch.com. .
Here are this handsome lads pictures.. He does indeed deserve a forever home....
