Katie is an approximately 2 year old, 45lbs Border Collie who is being fostered in Vero Beach, FL (Indian River County). Since being rescued, over the past few weeks, she has come out of her shell and has started to blossom. She is understanding what it is like to live in a home that loves her. 

Katie now is a fun-loving and happy girl who always has a smile on her face. She has medium energy for her breed and can be very playful. She would do best in a moderately active home.   She gets along very well with other dogs; the foster does not have a cat but on walks, Katie doesn’t seem to mind them. We think she would do best in a home with older, well-mannered  children.  Katie is working on manners and knows how to sit for treats.  She is a very smart girl and would benefit from obedience training as well as maybe enjoy agility. 

Katie has a gorgeous black (with a slight brown undertone in places) and white coat with some very slight hair loss on her backend (probably from a previous poor diet). But her hair is growing in beautifully and it’s not even noticeable. She is potty-trained, crate-trained, spayed, up to date on all vaccines and preventatives and heartworm negative.

We predominantly save dogs from municipal shelters throughout the Southeastern U.S. Our rescue dogs live in foster homes - there is no central facility.
