Sadie is fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families. If you're looking for a petite spitfire, this girl could be for you. She is 21 lbs at just about a year old and we don't expect her to get any bigger. A fenced yard is a requirement for her adopter, and cattle dog experience is a must. She will do best in a home where she gets plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. Sadie is a fun-loving, intense girl with a lot of energy. She is confident yet sensitive. She has good toy and tug drive, and retrieves. So far she has shown interest in a rolling disc with more evaluation to come. She is enamored with water and will be evaluated for dock diving. Sadie can be a bit mouthy at times, and due to her herding drive is not suited for a home with small children. Older/considerate kids would be fine. She has been exposed to cats and does like to chase them, but is not aggressive. She loves other dogs but can be in-your-face initiating play with them, which does improve with correction. She adores people but can be a bit standoffish with strange men out in public. Sadie is currently in training for loose lead walking and expanding her repertoire of basic commands. She is crate trained, but will sometimes bark a bit if she thinks everyone is having fun without her. She settles nicely after a few minutes. She does need an adopter who will continue to use a crate with her. Training classes are a must, as with any of our dogs. Sadie is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm-free.
