Eevee is fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families!

Hi there, my name is Eevee! I am looking for a forever family that will let me be my true terrier self. I most enjoy playing chase with my foster siblings, cuddling with my foster parents, chasing squirrels and lizards, and this fun thing called lure coursing my foster mom took me to. I get to chase a bag at top speed and bark at it! My foster mom also says I would be great for a sport called barn hunt, and of course nosework. I have a great sniffer and I know how to use it! I am not used to going potty on leash, so I definitely need a fenced yard. I recently learned how to climb the vines on the fence and scale it, so I will need a tall, secure fence and supervision. Oh, and I am housebroken, or so my foster mom says, and very quiet and well-behaved in the crate, where I stay when I am unattended so I don't chew things that could hurt me or the house I live in!

I adore my foster family so much, and I love to be held and relax right next to them. Some of my foster siblings sometimes push me around because I am only 19 lbs and they are cattle dogs. I am probably part cattle dog, but not so much that I act like them. I am very kind with other dogs, but I will submit or stick up for myself depending on the situation. I am a lover, not a fighter! I would love, and probably need, a kind doggie friend in my forever home.

When I first arrived I was very scared of new people outside the home. I would bark, freeze up and growl. My foster family has taken me to restaurants, the Little League park, lure coursing practice, state parks, and big, crowded adoption events, so I have learned not to act this way around new humans for the most part! Respectful kids are fine by me, and I even spent a weekend living with a visiting infant with no problems.

I walk well on a leash and would make a fun hiking and walking companion, or even running! I am focused on my handler and I know how to sit. 'Down' and 'stay' are a work in progress, but overall I just want to please. I do come when called, although sometimes I may linger to watch my foster family's chickens in their run. I really would love to meet those chickens inside the fence one day... It would be fun to have a home that takes me gives me plenty of physical activity, and works with me so I can be tired in my brain as well as my little legs. I do have what they call an "off switch" and am happy to nap by your side. I ride well in the car too!

Overall, I am a sweet and moderately active dog. I am about 2-4 years old, according to the vet. The vet makes me nervous, but they say I have no health issues and am ready to find my forever family! I am spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped (ouch!) and heartworm-free. I can't wait to meet my forever family!
