Bambi is fostered in Bradenton, FL (Manatee County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families!   

Bambi is a sweet little red merle deer head Chihuahua who just turned 9 months old on 11/30. We rescued her from a puppy mill bust. She is just a lovely little dog at all of 6.8 lbs. We doubt she will get larger than 9-10 lbs if she even grows more. She has one blue eye and one green. She is a leggy girl and looks just like a little fawn.

Bambi is very sweet and timid at first. She seems to think people are chasing her when they walk behind her. Her foster family is working on leash walking, and Bambi has already made great progress. She is friendly toward strangers and gives kisses. She even met a few kids last weekend and adored them. Please, no toddlers or rambunctious kids that might fall on, trample over or hurt her. Bambi likes other dogs and is starting to initiate play. She will play with a tug toy and likes to carry sticks around the yard. She loves to cuddle up with other dogs and is still learning the cues for when other dogs might not want to be so close to her all the time. She is fostered with 3 dogs between 35-45 lbs and does great with them, and is fine with small dogs as well. We do not anticipate an issue with cats. She shows no signs of Chihuahua snark. She really would do wonderfully with a family that would be attentive to her small size and work on her confidence. We would prefer to see her go to a home with another balanced dog for her to model behavior after.

Bambi is quiet and nondestructive in the crate. She is mostly housebroken and is learning the routine in her foster home. She rides fine in the car and her temperament is about the same in public as at home. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, microchipped and heartworm negative. She will have a pre-adoption exam and a negative fecal test prior to adoption.
