Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (short coat) : : Female (spayed) : : Adult : : Medium
Sadie is available for foster or adoption. We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for fosters! Sadie is currently fostered in Bradenton. Sadie is a striking blue heeler at about 2 years old and 31 lbs. She needs a home where she has a job, be it herding, playing disc, going for runs, agility, or dock diving. She is high energy and has high herding drive. She went to barn hunt this past weekend and while she was not much into the hunting aspect, she showed her aptitude for tunneling and climbing and her willingness to work for her handler. Sadie is extremely Velcro, and we are working on confidence building and manners to remedy this. She is learning to love playing with the dogs in her foster home. She will wrestle and play chase with them. She would do fine with older kids, but is not young kid-tested. Cats are an unknown for her, but would probably be OK. She is interested in the chickens at her foster home, but does not act aggressively toward them, and did not show strong prey drive at barn hunt. She needs work reinforcing the commands she knows and more exposure to leashed walking, although she is an extremely fast learner and has already improved tenfold. Sadie is crate trained, housebroken and quiet in the house. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, and heartworm negative. She would do best on a farm or in a sports home.
