Meet Palmer! Palmer is the perfect blend of smarts (cattle dog) with fun (catahoula).

He’s extremely smart and very treat and toy motivated. Currently he is learning and almost mastered the following commands and directives: leave it, stay, no, come, potty, sit, off, and “okay” is his release word. Palmer redirects very well. His biggest wish is to please and he lives for cuddles and affection. Palmer is a big kisser and will frequently wash your face with his kisses. His favorites things are sitting on your lap, following you around, and kissing you (he’s a mush of a dog).

Palmer enjoys car rides, walks, and enjoys playing with others.

His energy is medium to slightly high, and he has a good off switch at home. Palmer is dog neutral and is not fearful to strangers, children or environments. He is good with dog savvy cats.

Palmer is good for baths but is a big baby for nail trims.

The ideal foster or adopter would need to have an enclosed fence space for him to run, and keep him active by taking training classes. Palmer is timid in social setting, so it’s recommended his adopted expose him frequently to outing such as Home Depot, Lowes, Ross, etc. Palmer is extremely smart and learns new things very quickly.

Palmer is not recommended for homes with small children (5 years old or higher). Palmer is not aggressive but is still learning not to jump. He is a puppy (6-8 months) and is still learning manners. Palmer has done well with cats, but would not do well in a home with chickens. He is not aggressive; he just engaged in chase.

His vices: he’s a counter surfer and is not a fan of nail trims.

Palmer is crate trained and is quiet during his crate time.
