Please read this dog's bio thoroughly before inquiring. Bailey is currently fostered in Bradenton.

Bailey is a young and beautiful Australian cattle dog mix, and would be a fun one to DNA test. She is high energy and average temperament, but tenacious and nonstop. She is only about 33 lbs and is coming up on 14 months old. She has been in rescue since she was 10 months old, and was saved from a rural Louisiana shelter.

Bailey is a sweet and eager-to-please dog who loves to give kisses and wants to be your best friend. She has come a long way with her manners and sits for food, to be leashed, and when greeting a new person. She is crate trained and knows to go into her crate to sleep and for breakfast and dinner. She has great recall and will not be the kind of dog to stray. She is friendly toward strangers and will work for anyone. She is even-tempered and tolerant of baths and grooming. She walks fairly well on a leash and will heel off leash and on for food. She rides well in the car and is a great copilot. She is tested with kids in the 7-13 range and loves them.

Bailey gets along with other dogs but is still learning doggie etiquette. She is quite friendly toward others and loves to play with them. She escalates play as far as the other dog will go, and as such would do best with a nonreactive dog who would enjoy playing with her or not be bothered by her bouncy nature. The word pesky comes to mind, but it is very manageable and she prefers working for her people to playing with other dogs.

Bailey is finally settling into her foster home and has learned how to relax, hang out on the couch and even cuddle some. She has made excellent progress.

Bailey has been evaluated for search and rescue work and the trainer she has spent a week with calls her phenomenal. She has all the right hunt and search behaviors, and will walk up on big rocks (i.e. rubble) with her person. We will give strong preference to SAR homes as we do not want to see this girl's talent go to waste.

Bailey has been playing disc in her foster home for a few months now and is now catching it in her mouth and jumping high for it! She is also ball crazy and because she dead ball retrieves, loves to run and jump and has great recall, we think she would make a nice flyball dog. Bailey is extremely biddable - obedience and rally could also be in the cards for her with the right home. We have noticed she is not a natural water-lover, but has become somewhat curious about it.

Bailey is a lovely little dog who needs a very active, working or sports home. If you are ready to dedicate yourself to this dog, she will give you the world in return. Like all dogs available for adoption through our rescue, Bailey is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventives, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is ready for her forever home!
